…the thing about Katie…

katie-4thThis is my friend Katie. I met her years ago at the dog park. Our dogs grew old together…and over the years and through our early morning talks in our pajamas…we became friends.

Now you have to meet Katie to understand her wonderfully, wild spirit. Her laugh is contagious. She is crazy funny. And her smile lights up a room. She is fiercely loyal and eternally optimistic. Everyone loves Katie.katie-Collage

Katie & I have been through boyfriends, husbands, break ups, break downs and lost friendships. But she always held strong. She is one of the bravest souls I know. So when her roommate of 5 years and her boyfriend of 2 years simultaneously screwed her over both in the same week….she picked up & moved to San Diego. Ballsy. Her life was here. But off she went.

Well, Katie ended up meeting the love of her life by following her heart. And Katie is getting married to the man of her dreams.

Here is the ring I designed for her….A 2 carat, flawless emerald cut diamond set in platinum. A bit more contemporary than my normal designs…but she wanted something clean & simple. And Katie was getting what she wanted. She waited a long time for her prince charming and left a trail of frogs behind her…and she deserves only the best…engagement-Collagekatie-ring3a

I cannot wait to dance at your wedding. I love you girl.

…ever after…

A sneak behind the scenes peek at our newest line called the “Ever After” series of engagement & bridal jewelry. This is a wax that I have been hard at work on…I carved & recarved the bezel to get it just right. The orange dots are going to be pave diamonds all around…and the band is etched with the words “ever after.”

This is the exact diamond this ring was carved for…It is a 1.5 ct. chameleon, rose cut diamond.

Chameleon diamonds are very, very rare…and I was so very lucky to have this fall into my lap unexpectedly. It came directly from India from a friend of a friend…and it is a rare beauty. Chameleon diamonds are usually a greyish-green hue but change color according to the light & also heat. They are highly coveted…and kind of like trying to find the Easter Bunny…You hear about them, but never really see them.

We are going to cast this setting in a 18K yellow gold…which will give it a rich buttery hue…and will bring out all the light in the diamond.

I am so excited to see the finished product…I can barely stand it.

Stay tuned for more goodies!

~Heather
