“I am so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers…”
Fall in Leipers Fork by far my very favorite time of the year. The heat is lifted, the braids come out of my horses manes and the flies start to go off duty. It is glorious.
The horses also get a little more spring in their step. Pretty much the only downside is Mr. or Mrs. skunk that likes to reside under the barn begins his/her mating season. And you know who loves to chase skunks? Because he thinks they look like kitty cats. You guessed it. Nigel.
I don’t need to tell you how that story ends.
Our Corset Ring is perfect for fall
We all love our dogs…even when they smell like skunks (well mostly).
The Love Has Paws Bracelet & Unconditional Love Ring
Our Cowgirl Up Necklace complete with snaffle rings and a big heart
Skunk Boy Nigel wants a snuggle…any takers?
Wishing everyone tons of holiday sparkle and love…Don’t forget to put a little Island Cowgirl Jewelry under your tree for everyone! Of course if you are named Nigel…you may just want to hide your tennis ball.
All you need is love and a dog…and maybe a red chicken…
This is Nigel, my Old English Sheepdog, constant companion and snuggler extroidinaire. And quite possibly the best dog that ever was.
He is the inspiration behind most of our dog inspired jewelry…and we love him so. Like our new Paws Forever Bracelet from our new Fall collection…For those of you that love your dogs as much as I do.
…every morning Nigel waits for his new friends Mason & Dixon to sneak under the fence and play…
They usually last about 5 laps around the barn…
Who goofs off on the job? No silly Sallys around here! No sir! We get down to business!
This may appear to be a fluffy english sheepdog, but Nigel, he’s is all about focus! No shenanigans are tolerated while he’s on set! He directs production.
Oh and don’t let the eyes fool you… Bonnie Bell is our lead styling assistant here, she tries to stay behind the scenes.
It’s all quiet serious really. No funny business. WORK. WORK. WORK.
Just kidding… We love this stuff and we laugh all day long.
Its good to be an Island Cowgirl!
Keep an eye out for our new lifestyle photography, coming soon to the site!
This year Nigel really wanted his own Christmas card…
so naturally we made his christmas wish come true!
….But, we couldn’t forget little Miss Bonnie!
Arent our tail wagging reindeer adorable?!?!
Introducing our newest baby cowgirl Abbot Kinney (Abbey for short)
She is such a little ball of fur. Nigel is still acclimating to having a baby hanging around the studio, but he seems to be warming up to the idea of having a new friend.
I mean look at that smile on his face he’s obviously enamored by her cuteness.
It’s our love of animals that serves for so much inspiration in the creative process here at Island Cowgirl. You look at a pair of furry, wet nosed angels like this and you cant help but think “fur is love” or have the phrase “unconditional love” come to mind.
Too precious. Especially with the 90 pound weight difference…. they are just the funniest pair. We’re all smiling ear to ear around here.
Heres hoping we could pass our smile on to you. XOXO
Say howdy to our little studio family, well most of it anyways…
This is a little peak at our behind the scenes of what we do here at Island Cowgirl… working hard and putting a little bit of love into every design.
We have such a wonderful & committed team, it is such a blessing to show up to this little creative home every week.
We get to see fluffy faces like this….
However, you can count on a guilt trip from Miss Bonnie if you don’t plan on sharing your lunch! Who could say no to those eyes?
We are constantly in the building process in the studio, whether it be making the actual jewelry its self, shooting out emails, taking/making phone calls, photography, and of course playing sprinkler monster with Nigel.
Work for many people is simply a means to an end… or it just fills up the daily space. We are proud to say we love our work family and we will strive to maintain this awesome experience in the studio, just as we will continue to strive to bring you our version of cool boho jewelry.
Oh…the many faces of Nigel. Also known as Nigelicious, Fat Face and Angel of Love…(AOL for short).
For those of you who don’t already know him, allow me to introduce our brand mascot Mister Nigel. Heather’s Old English Sheepdog…
And then of course there is Bonnie. Bonnie-Bell…who is not so amused at all by all the ruckus of the younger dogs here. She is a bit of an grumpy old lady…but we love her just the same.
All of us here at Island Cowgirl are dog lovers to the maximum degree. We believe dogs are just angels in dog costumes…and we love having them around. They make us laugh, give us a nice break in the day and most of all they are wonderful snugglers. Most of us have become impervious to dog slobber & dog hair…as a requirement of the job.
We are so blessed to work in a space that we can have our favorite animals running free, and stopping by to pay us little visits at our desks.
So much of our jewelry is influenced by this love of furry friends.
One of our favorites is our ‘Fur is Love’ Bracelet. It’s the perfect little ode to your best friend.
Dogs bring a smile to our faces and on a tough day… just make the world a little bit better.
If you are a dog lover, you know what we mean.
Wags and Kisses,
Island Cowgirl & Nigel-icious
We think we found Nigel’s long lost hippie cousin. I am kind of digging the beaded head band. I might make us matching ones
This week around the studio we have been doing a photo shoot for our new website…It has been a lot of fun…but we battled some rain, some cold, a big praying mantis that kept buzzing us…but our biggest challenge was trying to keep Nigel out of the pictures. He assumed that it was playtime and kept covering the ground at our feet with toys.
This is the way it went…put on bracelet, pose model, arrange jewelry, throw dog toy and then very quickly try to snap the picture before said dog with toy bounded back into the frame…and ruined the picture. Needless to say we have more pictures of blurry white and grey fur than we do of jewelry. He especially liked posing with our doggie jewelry…Here you see him with our “Love Has Paws” bracelet.
Then of course we had to deal with this silliness…Bonny. Bonny doesn’t move much so we didn’t have to worry about drive by fur shots…however her sleeping poses were pretty distracting.
All in all we had a lot of fun with the photoshoot….and look forward to sharing all of these great new shots with you on our newly designed website! Lots of new inspirational jewelry & cowgirl jewelry coming up!
This is Nigel. He likes art. But mostly he likes going on bike rides…and on this fine Thursday afternoon he is ready to rock.
We grab our bike, a basket full of hand knit scarves that a friend just delivered to me and head over to the store to see a guy about some bird houses.
And not just any bird house. The most colorful, Dr. Seuss-like bird houses you ever did lay your eyes on.
So Dave came by with his pickup truck stuffed to the brim with this explosion of colorful birdhouses. Are you in love yet? We promtly proceeded to take over most of the parking lot and build a little bird house city…of course I had to see every single one. And of course I loved each one more than the last. It was almost impossible to pick. I wanted them. All.
I want the pink one. No…the blue one.
The coolest thing is that Dave came by way of a friend of mine in Arizona who owns a gallery…and he happened to be driving up the coast meeting his galleries so he offered to come by and let me pick some out…Serendipity at work again.
It is not even winter yet and I cannot wait to design my spring window display around Dave’s amazing bird houses.
I may get the pink one for myself…I think it may be just to pad to lure back Ernastine Hummingbird next spring.
Nigel! Bad Dog!
(I guess he doesn’t think boys should have pink beds…I kinda see his point…)
This is Nigel. I awoke him from his nap that he was taking in my truck. Poor Nigel.
He looks so sleepy. And confused. And suprised. I just want to kiss his big muppet nose.
